Allen Ginsberg (1926 – 1997) : Song
Song
Le poids du monde
est amour.
Sous le fardeau
de solitude,
sous le fardeau
d’insatisfaction
le poids,
le poids que nous portons
est amour.
Qui peu nier ?
Rêvé
il touche
le corps,
pensé
construit
un miracle,
imaginé
angoisse
jusqu’à naissance
dans l’humain –
regarde par le cœur –
brûlant de pureté –
car le fardeau de vie
est amour,
mais nous portons le poids
avec lassitude
et devons ainsi reposer
dans les bras de l’amour
à la fin,
reposer dans les bras
de l’amour.
Nul repos
sans amour,
nul sommeil
sans rêves
d’amour –
soyez fou ou glacé
obsédé d’anges
ou de machines,
le vœu dernier
est amour
- ne peut-être aigri
ne peut dénier
ne peut s’abstenir
si dénié :
le poids est trop lourd
- doit donner
sans retour
comme la pensée
est donnée
en solitude
dans toute l’excellence
de son excès.
Les corps chauds
brillent ensemble
dans l’obscurité,
la main s’avance
vers le centre
de la chair,
la peau tremble
de bonheur
et l’âme vient
joyeuse à l’œil –
oui, oui,
c’est çà
qu’je voulais
j’ai toujours voulu,
j’ai toujours voulu,
retourner
au corps
où je suis né.

Song
The weihgt of the world
is love.
Under the burden
of solitude,
under the burden
of dissatisfaction
the weight
the weight we carry
is love.
Who can deny ?
In dreams
it touches
the body,
in thought
constructs
a miracle,
in imagination
anguishes
till born
in human –
looks out of the heart
burning with purity –
for the burden of life
is love,
but we carry the weight
wearily,
and so must rest
in the arms of love
at last,
must rest in the arms
of love.
No rest
without love,
no sleep
without dreams
of love –
be mad or chill
obsessed with angels
or machines,
the final wish
is love
- cannot be bitter,
cannot deny,
cannot withhold
if denied :
the weigth is too heavy
- must give
for no return
as thought
is given
in solitude
in all the excellence
of its excess.
The warm bodies
shine together
in the darkness,
the hand moves
to the center
of the flesh,
the skin trembles
in happiness
and the soul comes
joyful to the eye –
yes, yes,
that’s what
I wanted,
I always wanted,
I always wanted,
to return
to the body
where I was born.
